Lakes, Snow - all year round !
In Zell am See - Kaprun families with
children, couples and singles of every age - all find
their personal vacation paradise.
With its development of the Kitzsteinhorn in 1965, Kaprun
catapulted itself into the ranks of the top holiday regions.
The joy of skiing or boarding on fresh powder snow, even
in the summertime! Up in the Kitzsteinhorn's glacier ski
area, snow is guaranteed 365 days a year.
And because of their favorable location, Kaprun and Zell
am See serve as bases for countless beautiful hikes. You
will discover rewarding destinations in the gently domed
hills of Pinzgau's so-called "Grass Mountains",
the glacier region, and in the Hohe Tauern National Park.
A variety of sights and excursion destinations are only
a short distance away: the mighty Grossglockner, Krimml
Waterfalls, the World of Ice Giants (giant ice caves),
Salzburg City and much more. The world-famous reservoirs
and hydroelectric power station, along with the Sigmund
Thun Gorge, can all be enjoyed from here in Kaprun. And
because of intensive collaboration with neighboring communities,
you can participate in 40 different types of sports.
Be that hiking, mountain biking, or such extreme sports
as canyoning, paragliding, hang gliding or rafting - Zell am See - Kaprun have it all.
Lake Zeller See, with its warm and very clean water (literally
fit to drink), invites you to come swim and relax, as
well as try your hand at water-skiing, sailing, rowing
and diving. Book memorable aerial tours of the Alps at
the airport in Zell am See. And amidst the magical vistas
of the Alps, the EUROPA SPORTS REGION allows you to tee
it up on 36 holes at 2 broad-ranging courses (Kitzsteinhorn
and Schmittenhöhe).
The Kitzsteinhorn glacier ski area, the Maiskogel family
slope and the Lechnerberg bunny hill in Kaprun - together
with the Schmittenhöhe ski area in Zell am See - offer
skiing fun for everyone, from absolute beginners to true
racing pros. 57 lifts of every kind provide access to
130 kilometers of hills in the beautiful ESR. With great
slopes, glistening mountainsides and convivial skiers'
huts, wintertime fun is guaranteed.
A cross-country ski trail high on the Kitzsteinhorn, along
with the first trail in Kaprun to be covered in man-made
snow (a night trail), integrate wonderfully into the countless
kilometers of cross-country trails crisscrossing the region
- this is cross-country fun without end!
The frozen waters of the Zeller See become an El Dorado
for skaters and winter hikers.
